Children's Home "Bk. Maria Luisa "was created in the month of November 1912 as the first home for the orphans of fallen officers and soldiers of the Balkan War. He was the first for the country and comes in response to a need for the state to take care of those children who are left without fathers, because the Balkan War, the subsequent Balkan and the First World War are linked to more than 100 000 deaths and more than 200,000 injured Bulgarian soldiers.

The home was originally in different places in the city in 1924 and is situated on the place in those spaces in these buildings that were part of the Third Artillery Regiment who was residing in Plovdiv. Currently 60 children aged six to eighteen years live and study in eight maisonettes with a total area of ​​3920 sq. Meters each house, totaling 1.5 million euros. The premises of the maisonettes are: 1. floor - living room, dining room, kitchen, 2 bathrooms; 2. floor - three bedrooms, two bathrooms; 3. floor attic - closet.
